How Does Bowen Therapy Technique Work?
Bowen Therapy is a dynamic system of muscle, connective tissue (tendon or nerve sheath) therapy that is revolutionizing health worldwide.
Named after Tom Bowen, from Victoria Australia, this therapy has been taught and offered as a healing modality since the 1980’s.
Bowen Therapy empowers the body to heal itself. It’s natural, non-invasive and consists of a series of gentle, precise moves on specific muscles and points; often with a waiting time or pause in-between the moves. During these pauses, the body is re-balancing itself with its own energy.
These moves stimulate energy flow, activating the body’s own resources for healing. It is believed that Bowen Therapy sets up vibrational patterns, (similar to sound or smell) that correspond to particular areas of the body, which communicate signals to “kick-start” a healing response.
The body is a complex unit and sometimes only a small number of “moves” are needed to achieve a result. Bowen Therapy can be done through loose clothing, standing, sitting in a chair or lying down.
Combining Bowen Therapy with Kinesiology
By using Kinesiology as a framework, Bowen Therapy “moves” or sequences of moves, can be applied at “exactly” the right time for the individual, with the most appropriate waiting times in between. Note however, Bowen Therapy can only be done in person and not via long distance.
Bowen is particularly powerful for people who have had physical pain for long periods of time, were traumatized while receiving the initial injury, or don’t know what the underlying cause of the pain is.
